A deeper exploration into cornflowers, and blues, just trying to work with the flowers while they were still going strong. There’s an explosivity about the way the petals are distributed that is addictive. Again a bit like the bluebells, there is an alignment in my head of blue as a sacred colour. Historically ultramarine was made of lapiz lazuli and so was expensive - it was used on religious icons and sacred imagery as a reverential gesture made by artists.
